Satellite LNB Power Supply With LNA

Satellite dish interface module allows software defined radio (SDR) development systems to receive satellite signals.

Allied Component Works has introduced a subsystem component module that supports the connection of a satellite dish to the wideband front end of a typical SDR development system. The SCM25002 module provides a protected, low noise, configurable power supply for a satellite dish low noise block (LNB) through an internal bias tee. The intermediate frequency (IF) signal from the LNB passes through the module, which filters and amplifies the signal for direct connection to the receiver. The design thereby combines the functionality of a collection of radio “plumbing” components typically required to complete this interface. The result is smaller size and higher performance at a similar or lower cost.

The SCM25002 was developed to support customers addressing satellite signal analysis using SDR platforms. A customer white paper is available here to expand on that perspective. Customization is also available as the module design supports refinement and adaptation to customer needs. We look forward to working with our customers to solve similar signal interface challenges with creative and complete solutions.

The SCM25002 is available now by contacting Allied Component Works. Ongoing development is also being pursued in collaboration with prospective distributor Crowd Supply. The SCM25002 crowd funding campaign embraces open source hardware and software principles to enhance the clarity and versatility of the product design for the benefit of all radio system developers.
