The SCM25003 is an integrated thermocouple input module with reinforced isolation between the host and the thermocouple. A simple text based serial interface allows a user or host computer to access temperature readings and status information or to initiate periodic reporting of temperature information. Electrical isolation of the thermocouple converter circuit prevents damage to the host in the event of contact between the thermocouple and electrical sources typically found in industrial equipment, and it also allows the thermocouple to contact earth grounded materials without causing a converter short circuit or ground loop. The overmolded laminate package improves isolation performance and supports direct integration in an industrial environment.
